When you hear of auto insurance companies you mostly hear about Geico insurance or the general auto insurance company but there is an old familiar face that is quickly becoming a contender in auto insurance and their name is Ameriprise.

If you are one those few people who has not heard of Ameriprise than you are not alone. Looking at a brief history for this company Ameriprise started out as an investment company called Investors syndicate in the late 1890’s by 1940 the company’s assets reach $100 million.

Over the next 28 years the company changed its name to Investors Diversified Services Inc. and in 1958 IDS life insurance was formed. By 1984 American Express completed an acquisition of the company by 1994 the IDS company reached assets of over $100 billion. By 2005 the American Express Financial Corporation became an independent company and changed its name to Ameriprise Financial which it is now today and the company as of 2008 was ranked number 296 in the fortune 500 of the world’s best companies.

Today there are several thousands of insurance companies but there are a few far and between auto insurance companies that can offer you auto insurance and also offer financial freedom at the same time. As I mentioned before it is not always best to put all your apples in one basket but if you do get a chance to get auto insurance company that also sells financial products make sure to ask them what percentage you can save if you transfer all your financial products to them. Sometimes the savings can be in the thousands and as long as you have the proper financial insurance then you money will be safe.

In case you do live in a cave and still have not heard of Ameriprise but you do have television then you probably have seen their commercials with a well known actor named Dennis Hopper. The flower commercial talks about new financial freedom called dream, plan track. Even if you are just searching for an estimate on your auto insurance or you are looking for a financial company to grow with then this is one company to look out for in the near future.
